amen to that

i really like the new model i was checking it out yesterday at the hardware store its much more ergonomic. i dont like how the speed selector and the on/off switch is seperate though, my older model has th eoff switch at zero so theres only one lever to move.

im not sure of the advantages other than it looking cooler than the old style, does it have more attachments? i do like it though dremels are THE BEST TOOL EVER!!!

unless you have a BIG job to do then you just have a $40 bigass electric grinder and youve got the best of both worlds

i just port-matched an intake manifold last night. a regular drill with grinding stone helped with the TB intake going to 52.5mm because thats a lot of material, but it was polished with teh dremel nicely.

i also polished the whole clutch master cylinder on matts car when we did the auto/manual swap. he was like 'dude dont worry about that its not important.' i was like 'no im having fun' hahaha.

I have the Black & Decker Proto RTX (Dremel clone) and like it MUCH better than the Dremel brand. All the Dremel brand accessories still fit too. 8D

tell us WHY you like it better? what RPM does it operate at and does it have more rotational power (torque)?

I really couldn't tell you the technical specs, just the overall feel and control was much better and easier to use than my previous Dremel. However, I haven't messed with the new Dremel yet, so that may be a moot point now. If I had to buy another one, I'd probably buy the new model Dremel. While my B&D has been going strong 2 years now, I've seen Dremels last 20+ years which I doubt I'll get out of my B&D. The only other plus for the B&D is it's a bit cheaper as well.

Here's what I found on Amazon:

Amps: 2.2
Watts out: 240
Volts: 115
No-load speed: 8,000 to 30,000 rpm
Bearing type: Ball
Handle type: Barrel grip

It was more powerful than the older Dremels, but it looks like the new models are a bit tougher than the RTX. So like I said, I'd reconsider my next purchase.

i like my dremel, its not too bad. just about everything a dremel can do i now have an air tool for. sure its not everything in 1 tool, but i dont see a dremel ever acting as an impact wrench or paint sprayer:lol:
