Default question about a tranny swap

im new to the forums but my question is will a 5 speed tranny out of a 92 mitsubushi eclispe 2.0L dohc fit on my 91 excel 2d hatchback 1.5 X2 i think it might fit but i want to get more apinions on it so if you could let me know thanks.

I`m fairly sure it will fit, although gear ratios set for a 2.0 car are likely to be a bit high for a 1.5 & may well reduce your acceleration!.

My mods.(180 crank bhp.) include: cold air induction (with 12v fan & ram air), dump valve, FSE fuel pressure regulator, strut brace, rear (+2.5") spacers, Spax lowering springs & Pedders shocks. Subaru bonnet scoop & upgraded cockpit. Custom 2.5" exhaust with twin 4" tailpipes & 15"x7" alloys . Intercooler fitted + manual boost controller & oilcooler.

Ive been thinking of the same thing. I know the excel is all about economy, but it seems like the 1.5 in my 89 is gonna fly to bits just to go 60.aranoid:
