for a while i've had blue neons inside my car..... and i was thinking about installing a blue neon behind the grill to turn on at night when i turn my car on....... would that be illegal?????? it's an accent light and it's technically inside the car......

It's most likely illegal so I would wire it to a switch so you can turn it on and off.

I wire EVERYTHING to a switch just cause. It leaves ricers guessing.. Whats that for?
Stage one NOS.

And that?
Stage 3.

Ejector seat.

Thats the Defrost.

Neons being turned on in the interior of a moving vehicle are technically illegal.

But yes, blue lights behind the grille would be super illegal. I'd doubt if you would make it one night without getting pulled over.

Been there done that, mines still sitting there behind the grille, I cut the wires and left it cause I was lazy.

In this state (WA) blue lights are always illegal anywhere on the car (inside too) except for po-pos. At least when its on the street.

here in Ontario the only 2 colours that can face forward are white and amber. Even those stupid *** windshield washer LED things are illegal (and ghey).

Laws vary from state to state in the US but I don't think there are many places where it would be okay.

In WA you also can't have neon exterior lighting of any kind (while operating vehicle on highway). They outlawed a technology, which is BS IMO. LED's creating the same effect is fine as long as it's legal (I.E. white angel eyes) but if the angel eyes were neon it's illegal.

well when i got pulled over by the cops that one time i had my blue neons on inside my car..... and he just tole me to turn them off for that night...

i now i want to put a white neon behind my grille....... would that work???????

Law in Florida:

316.2397 Certain lights prohibited; exceptions.--
(1) No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided.
(2) It is expressly prohibited for any vehicle or equipment, except police vehicles, to show or display blue lights. However, vehicles owned, operated, or leased by the Department of Corrections may show or display blue lights when responding to emergencies.

So no, a blue neon light behind your grille would not be legal.
