Default why hp doesn't support illegal street racing

This is why we don't support it. For those of you who are young and naive, there's a dark side to irresponsible tuning and driving. You've heard about the consequences at some point I'm sure, but when you experience it, it's a whole other story. This topic is a memorial for anyone who knows anyone who has died due to illegal street racing.

Video - I lost two buddys to a street racing crash..i hope this makes you think twice about street racing

I lost a friend to a street race here in downtown blacksburg a couple months ago. She was crossing the street to meet me on my first day at my new job to go out on a date. :*( x 10000000000000000

I realize this should be posted in the video vault, but perhaps you could make an exception in this case and perhaps make it a sticky as well.

You're in my prayers, bud.

I admire your courage...I would be completely in shambles if I was in your shoes. As you know, things like this are hard to deal with. In these types of situations, it's common for those close to the victim to feel at fault--especially in a case like yours. But no matter what you feel, know that there was nothing you could do about it. Instead of mourning her death, celebrate the time she blessed everyone with her mere presence. I don't know if you are a Christian, your various beliefs, etc., but just know that she is in a better place, and she'll always be there watching over you.

I hate how stuff like this always happens to the best people--the ones that make you laugh and smile; the ones that are always there for you; the ones that make every day their best. They're always taken away from us before we think that it's "their time". In reality, "their time" was their entire life, blessing those that they came to love.

Stay strong, man. All of us are here for you.

+1 on sticky!

Condolences to you bro. Attist pretty much said what wanted to say. I reckon this should be stickied as well.

Sorry for your loss.

Anyone racing where that was a possibility is a toolshed on their best day.

Lots of wrecked up F-bodies in that clip.

Default Its really hard

I don't know anyone personally who died in a race, but I know a guy from my school who killed someone while racing. You might have heard about it in the news, it was fairly big when it happened. The two guys racing wern't tuners like most of the guys here, but were each racing in Mercedes belonging to their parents, going about 140kph in a 50 zone. They went around a blind turn in the road and came across a taxi making a left turn. The taxi driver probably never knew what happened, one of the cars slammed into his passenger side, hitting it so hard that he pushed the car something like 10 meters sideways where it jumped the curb and hit a light post on the driver side. The taxi driver was killed instantly when he went into the post. He was on his last call of the night and was days away from getting his Canadian citizenship.

It had a fairly big impact on most of the guys at our school. I didn't know these two very well since they're older than me, but I still knew and respected them. The whole experiance is shocking and really upsetting. Not only did these guys kill an innocent man, but they have completely ruined their futures as well.
Here's one news article about the story, there are hundreds if you google the names of the guys:

globeandmail.com: Canada's National Newspaper

My point in telling this story is that while I didn't know the man killed, I knew the boys who killed him, and in doing so they are almost dead themselves. These two could have done almost anything with their lives - they had money, education, connections, and intelligence. They just made one bad decision (but come on, they were still just being 18 year old guys). Its such a waste.

And it was 100% avoidable. Please remember that next time you want to speed or race, or anything that could have consequences like this. Thanks.
