Default Question about CAI

Hi, I just bought a K&N Performance Air Filter as my first "mod" for my Elantra. My question is this, if I was to get a Cold Air Intake later on, would I have to remove the air filter I spent $77 cdn on?

most intakes come with a filter.

Did you get a drop in or a cone?

It sounds like you got the drop in panel filter. So yes if you get a CAI then it will be no good cause you will have to use a cone filter.

If you haven't used that filter then I would return it. They are really a waste of money if you are looking for performance gains.

What year Elantra do you have? You should list it in your profile so it appears under your name.

It is true if you have not used it you can return it. If you have keep it. I see that you are from Canada like me. Well we get lots of snow. During the winter I take my intake off and put the OE filter box back on with stock panel filter.

The reason I do this is cause a lot of moisture gets into the engine compartment during the winter and I don't want to get my filter all wet.

Well, If you buy an Intake from HVE, then you could still use the K&N Drop in.. but the HVE intake isn't really a "CAI", and I've heard different things about it performance wise. Some like it, some don't... It looks and sounds cool though

Check it out here www.hve.com.au, I'm pretty sure they make them for elantras, don't know which years though.

like pare_john said, you can just use the k&n for those newmarket winters.
