Default Tips for a noob?

Well my ld suby threw a rod headed up the hill so I figured it was time for a new car and what is it that catches my eye the most? A brand new 2002 Elantra GT...

Now I've got the auto but no sun roof. I kinda wish I could have found a manual but I fell in love with the thing too fast and there was little to no chance of finding one in the area... not to mention I had to buy a car THAT DAY for work and school... no regrets.

Wel I'm sure it's been done but... you guys got any tips for a noob? I'm not looking to become some ... ub3r l33t str33t r4c3r, just want to know what to do to get those extra horses without endangering... the car.

Also, and more importantly, what do you reccommend here in the community I do to keep my shiney new tool in top shape?

Thanks for dealnig with me and... how do I get my dome lights to come on when I open the door at night? j/k ;-)

Take it easy, cya round

Just the typical CAI, BBTB, Headers, Catback, exhaust, etc... just hit the normal sites and post a question here before buying to make sure you aren't buying crap or something that doesn't bolt on even though it says so.

alright sounds good. I'm no big brain when it comes to performance tuning and I wont EVER claim to be so all the help I get is great. What would you elantra owners reccommend my moves be? What should be the first thing I do... second thing? How much can I expect to pay for the parts and installation? What do the parts axtually do and how much gain can I expect to get out of them? Hooks or catches to using certain parts or part configurations?

Thanks a ton guys for any help! If anyone missed it, I've picked myself up a 2002 Elantra GT with the automatic tranny.

On a slighty different topic, I'm loving this car more and more every time I get in. A customer came into the cyber cafe I run and was talkin smack about the "cute little hyundai trash" outside and how good his brand new civic looked sitting next to it. Well, hung up the "back in 5 minutes" sign and took him to the street. Raced him from light to light, not sure how far inbetween the lights were but I'd estimate about 1/4-1/2 a mile... Well here I stand with some more pride in my car and an extra 40 bucks in the wallet... I'm going to DENNY's man! j/k, but it was a good feeling to toast him...

forgot to mention, I came in at least 6 feet in front of him each time we raced, yes he was a pud, and yes all I had to do was push down the gas, but I'm still proud of my little machine.

well
most of the n/a gains aren't great compared to other cars, this car is mainly a boost motor
but STILL stuff can be done

i would personally go with i/h/e setup first unless you want to boost which is $$$
then work your way from there matching your bim, handling mods like in stiffer springs, strutbar and stuff
and if you want to spend a good $700 and be car-less for about 4-5 days then get your torque converter upgraded by www.levelten.com
