Default Spark Plugs and nitrous READ!

I ran to Auto-Zone with gadzooks for some neato-boffo stuff and...here goes:

Auto zone "Team Member" 1: ...blah blah blah...so I told the guy 'no, no, no, you need a hotter spark plug if you're running nitrous'

Team Member 2: oh...so you should run hotter plugs huh?

member 1: yeah, you have to prevent early detonation

member 2: right on.

So I tell gadzooks to listen and filled him in on the rest of the conversation. Then I ask the guy "What did you say? Should I run hotter or colder plugs with nitrous?"

Team member 1: yeah, you should use hotter plugs, to prevent early detonation.

I think..."hmmm.....WTF?"

So finally gadzooks tries to set him straight, and the guy is arguing with him and telling him "no, you HAVE to use a hotter plug to prevent early detonation and you have to adjust your timing when you run nitrous"

I had to offer gadzooks some cash to shut up and quit arguing with him.

Can anybody tell me what is wrong with what the auto zone guy said?

you usually retard timing and run a colder spark plug (which effectively retards timing within itself)...

i think the guy has a little bit of retarded timing himself... or has just turned his brain to swiss-cheese hitting the nitrous bottle...

i dont know much about nitrous but it would seem to me that running a hotter plug would speed up detonation as opposed to slowing it down :dead:

its just common sense hotter lights faster cooler takes longer to ignite

using hotter plugs on an NA engine could cause damage

Using hotter plugs on a nitrous engine will more than likely cause a hole in a piston

Let me guess... he also recommended you use bosch +4 platinum plugs too...
:disappointed:
