I've spraying a 50 shot wet NOS kit and if I spray in 3rd, 4th, or 5th the clutch will let go, the rpms will rise to 5 hover, and then you can smell the burnt clutch. I'm running a Stage 1 Exedy clutch kit on a tiburon tranny, Elantra motor, in a LC accent. Any ideas?
did you have the flywheel machined? i am not familiar with beta swaps but I remember that you need to use a certain model year Accent clutch depending on the tranny, correct? and you have almost doubled the power to the wheels from factory with that setup while spraying. maybe the clutch is defective or doesn't have enough clamping force.
hey i have a stage 2 clutchmaster and i only feel clutch slipping under spray very little going from 1st to 2nd but that is it. I have a 03 tib 2.0 dohc with a 85 shot on it and the car loves the gas.

the clutch is giving up under the added stress. Stop spraying or its going to give out on you completely.. and that would suck. Time for a new clutch if you want to stay on the bottle.
Did you give the clutch time to break in, or did you just romp on it/spray it from day 1?

stage 1 should be able to handle that power... but maybe not?
that depends on what in the hell Stage 1 means to that company. Thats what I hate about the "stages".. wtf are you getting. There is no over sight agency telling companys "That has to be a stage 2, because its mad whack". Clutchs have a torque rating, go by that. Mines 235lbs and some would call it a "stage 1" because I have a solid disc and not pucked. Does exedy hold the same or is there "stage 1" a stock clutch.

you need the stage 2 with the lighter flywheel it puts more pressure on the clutch
what? The flywheel has nothing to do with the clamp load on the friction disc. Other than it being the mounting point for the pressure plate.

Are you double clutching it??.......i would go to atleast stage 2 if not 3. I used a 75 on the alpha motor with no slippage on an OEM clutch.
What would double clutching do for him? He isn't having issues getting into gear, its slipping under load. 75 on an alpha, how long did you run that with the OEM clutch? Ryans didn't last long at all with just the beta and thats only a 30hp gain.
