It depends on whats causing the detonation I think. If your blowing hot air out of a turbo (running to small) the shot could cool things off and calm the engine down. If your fuel system can't handle the air the turbo is giving it your going to blow the motor apart spraying, because it wont support the spray either.

dont you think a 150 shot is a little rediculous???

one time i raced a snail with my Tib. he took me off the line but once i caught traction i accidentally ran him over while attempting to pass. i won by default, but since i was obviously catching him to be able to run him over i figured that i would have won anyway.
I'm new to this site but this thread interested me, I run a 2001 gsi 1.6dohc, that I just converted to 1.5, with turbo scoupe piston, turbo scoupe rod, all bearing being rebuild,
I run a 120hp direct port kit with stock transmission only a 3XXlbs/fts clutch , and a 255lph walbro pump, I also run a WOT switch with progressive spray (it means that it does not shoot 120 one shot, its going progressively)
And as far as it goes...no problem ! sure..when i don't use nitrous i get like 70hp due to low CR ratio, but I don't care i don't race in the street so i don't need 200whp daily. I am planning to get bigger jet maybe to boost it to 150hp.
I am running a smt-6 to tune all this. I would NOT excees 50shot on a 1.5, maybe it can hold it, but for how long ?? even on a beta i would not pass 75shot even there..i'm pretty sure its the stock limit for fiability.
if your running scupe pistons and rod your good to go. The Scoupe was built for a turbo and nitruose I dont belive is as strenuouse on an engine as a turbo is but i do belive the engine can hold a good 250-260 hp W/ all that you just mentioned.

i know 3 guys that run their 1.5 alpha with scoupe turbo/rod like me, but turboed and since 3 years they never had any problem with the bloc and they all run 200-220WHP with a old tuning with a FMU, so i don't know why it would not hold nitrous and like I said, for now, it do take that much nitrous w/o any problem !
