I think the technicians are mostly to blame for the amount of time it's taken. Took them 22 days to figure out that a vibration occurring only in 5th gear was actually 5th gear, which was my 1st guess. When they finally replaced the transmission, it developed a "womp, womp, womp" in the rear end when driving under 20 mph, and they can't find it, despite the fact it's something they did. Chaps my butt.

have them change the wheels and tires in the rear.. tire defects make very very strange noises..

I agree with Wilbur and 187sks. First of all, take it somewhere else. Don't blame Ford for making a bad product when it's the dealer's technicians that are to blame for not diagnosing things right. And Wilbur was right...tire and/or rim problems can make some really strange noises and have some strange effects on driving characteristics.
It sounds like that dealer has a lot of technicians with that "let's throw parts at it instead of wasting time diagnosing" mentality. Rear ends don't make "womp womp womp" noises when they're bad--they grind and shudder. A consistently rhythmic "womp" sound can be caused by flat spots in a tire, a bent rim, an out-of-balance rim/tire set, and many other things...but normally not a rear end--especially not when it only happens under a certain speed.

Ours was ok, the one I rented with my mom was a mere v6 base model, and I wasn't impressed. Felt like any other big boxy car but with Mustang badging. I'd have to go with the loaded v8 GT to really be impressed. Otherwise, meh. Not worth the money.
I remember a private importer was testing these at Calder's on an open circuit day. V8 and all. Wasn't too impressive m8, seeing as how they needed to move over for a Japanese 4-cylinder. Other than that, they're very handsome cars. TONS tougher looks than what the japs are putting out now. I'll need to go with changing dealerships; if the service team can't sort you out then its time to find a new service team.
