Middle of last year I was *this* close to getting a 2007 Accent SE. However, my wife hates: 1.) 4 cylinders, and 2.) small hatchbacks. With a little nudging, she convinced me to look at something I'd probably enjoy longer than a commuter. Hence I wound up splurging and getting a 2008 Mustang GT. Honestly, it didn't take much arm-twisting to convince me, since I loved the new look of the 'Stangs, and I've never owned a performance car before.
And that, my friends, has been the worst decision of my entire life. I picked the car up on November 3rd of '07 after waiting 10 weeks for it to be built, and the car has yet to be functioning at 100%. I love the look, love the interior, love the engine, but from the bell housing back it's a total piece of crap. As of today, my new GT has had:
the drive shaft rotated
the drive shaft balanced
a new drive shaft
an entire new rear end assembly
a new transmission
a 2nd new rear end assembly
...and it's still not fixed.
36 days in the shop and counting. As much as I love the theory behind the Mustang, Ford's manufacturing and technicians just don't cut it. I sure wish I'd gone with the Accent! My wife's Tuscon is doing great after 45k miles. I've yet to clear 4k on this Mustang.
If they finally agree to buy it back, I'm gonna' go get that Accent.
Hmm, shouldn't be my 1st post...? Did the post count reset when they upgraded the site? Could've sworn I posted at least 2 or 3 times about the Accent back when I was shopping.
I'm lamenting the fact I didn't get an Accent, so that counts as a Hyundai topic.
Bloody hell, if that's the kind of build quality they put out over there its no wonder Ford Australia takes such great pains to ensure the quality of its product.

You've got a rare, problematic one. I know multiple guys with new GT's and they haven't had a problem.
Yeah, lucky me!
I think the technicians are mostly to blame for the amount of time it's taken. Took them 22 days to figure out that a vibration occurring only in 5th gear was actually 5th gear, which was my 1st guess. When they finally replaced the transmission, it developed a "womp, womp, womp" in the rear end when driving under 20 mph, and they can't find it, despite the fact it's something they did. Chaps my butt.
