Well, since I apparently let my insurance lapse (they waited 3 days after I made the claim to tell me this), they denied my claim. Obviously.
Hyundai, as a show of good-will, offered to knock $1500 off the price of the engine. Which surprised the living hell out of me. They didn't have to do anything. They could have told me, "Sorry, not our problem. It's not covered under warranty so you're stuck with the full price." WAY TO GO HYUNDAI!!
Also, the dealer has agreed to charge me actual time which will come in a good deal under book time. So that's gonna save me some more money.
All in all, everyone involved has been nothing short of phenomenal. Hard to believe some good actually came out of this.
