Default 2001 Tib auto-downshifts slow is this common?

Just one of my gripes about the Tib. Not use to cars stayin in gear so long. It has 11,000 miles on it. It seems when I hit the gas and get the rpm's up then let off, that it stays in gear for a while then kicks down. Dunno if this is common or what. My 95 bonneville didnt do this and just wondered if it needs looked at or are the autos just sluggish kickin down?

Mine is also auto and seems to stick in gear a whole lot especially after hard acceleration. Cold weather really seems to mess with it as well. Tapping the bottom of the red line is normal for my car some mornings during the winter shortly after I leave work. The dealership explained it away as a sensor in the tranny that wanted to raise the transmission fluid temp to optimal and it did that by causing "late shifts" when the tranny was cold. I guess my tranny is almost always cold.

From what I've heard Level 10 does an awesome job on our A/T torque convertors. I'd suggest at least checking them out before doing an A/T to manual swap.

Tranny swap sound difficult....auto-manual...isnt that expensive. Seems to me that to many things can go wrong swappin all that and it'll void the warranty.....Tell me more about level 10? There somethin I can get for the convertor?. ~punches himself for buyin the damn auto...even though a stick wouldnt be much fun in this florida traffic~aranoid:
