Default Is ticking normal?

my 97 tib has a tick to it that I can't get rid of. I've had it to the dealership a few times and they said it had something to do with the timing belt. they tighten it up and it goes away, teo days later it is back. Is that normal for the tibs?:??:

I'm about to put a NOS system on it but i don't want to if the thing is gonna blow up on it's own.:dead:

How many miles are on your car? When was your last oil change? Does it go away after the car warms up?

it does it even after I chande the oil. it doesn't matter if it is hot or cold, but after about 2k rpm it stops... I think it might be the timing chain hitting when it isn't under a load... a few other hyundais I've heard has about the same if not louder, but I really don't khnow what the deal is. I don't have a loss of power or anything. it just ticks. any suggestions?

I tried changing the PCV valve but it didn't help it. I dunno what to tell you or what to do, but the mechanics at the Hyundai dealership didn't seem to worry about it.

I have that too....it seems to be quieter when it is in neutral, but I have not found any fix either. I will check with the owner of the race shop that I take my car to for some repairs to see if he says anything, but he hasn't so far and no one else seems to concerned with it??

i have the same ticking noise as well. it seems to be right around the I.A.C., i've fiddled with the hoses in the area, as well with some elec. connections, but to no avail. i've been wondering if maybe it has something to do with the fuel injectors? i know its not the fuel filter since i changed mine twice already..but again, i do believe it has to do with the injectors. i'll mess with it soon

If this noise is what I think it is, it's normal on the 2.0L hyundai engine. The source is one of two things. 1) The hydralic valve adjusters. 2) the electronic distributor (or whatever that thing is called). I havn't gotten a good explaination of why just that they do (make noise) and that it's normal for them to do so.
