Short shifter

It goes into gear fine, the problem is that the shifter seems to have "shifted" to the side. It doesn't want to reach 1st and 2nd. (sorry for any confusion from before). When it is in 5th gear, the shaft stands straight up and down instead of being pointed to the right some (about 1 o'clock), in 3rd it looks like it is in first.

has anyone tried the RPW rally spec short shifter? its about $115 converted from australia, but dont know if i should get the RPW one or the B&M.
