Default nitrous question

The zex kit seems like a pretty inexpensive way to add mass hp to your car. Question is, how much damage does nitrous do to your engine ? I mean , I drive my tibby to work every day ... will it like burn up in 30k if I use nitrous on the weekends for fun ?
Just sounds too good to be true.
Thanks.<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

2001 blue Tibby, leather, cd, custom racing stripes, etc. every option avail.

Default Re: nitrous question

Nitrous is fine just as long as you know how to use it. Do not spray below 3k rpm, and try not to spray for extended periods of time. Most people hear horror stories about giggle gas, but you can pretty much say that all of those stories are from people who either 1) didn't know how to hook up the nitrous right or 2) didn't know when to juice. As long as you have the nitrous in right, and you know when and how to use it you will be fine...even if it is a daily driver.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, nitrous problems are only told by the stupid people that don't know how to use it. nitrous is the equivalent of a turbo or supercharger except you run it when you want to run it. keep it down around a 50 shot and you will be fine for a long time. people start messing things up when they turn up the shot. just play it safe and you will have a nice substitute for a turbo or supercharger. you wanna turn up the shot, just remember it would be just like upping the boost on a turbo where you would need to work on some internals. a healthy engine will handle a 50 shot nicely. i have a friend with a cheap NOS fogger kit on his eclipse rs that is running 14.9 ets. the zex kit is one of the best on the market. it is safe and is upgradable with every other nitrous parts you can find. hope this helps. later

oh and about knowing when to shoot it. most kits now unless direct port are based off of throttle response. when you hit full throttle the n2o goes when off it shuts down. i know for a fact the zex kit has a safety feature that if the mix gets too lean(too much air/ not enough fuel) it shuts it down so it is much safer then that of a direct port kit. later
