I had my CEL go off and a friend of mine hooked his computer up and it was either a po422 or a po442 don't remember which one, but if you look here:
P0422- Catalyst efficincy, below threshold. Component- Catalyst
P0442- Evap emissions control system, small leakage detected. Component- Evap emission control system.
could you tell me by the description of the code what part I have to change with either of the codes to fix the problem.
Just to give you an idea of which of the two it could be, this is what my car is doing. It ideals very low most times when warm [under 500rpm], acceleration is absolutly nothing and gas mileage is horrible.
For the p0422 code I'm thinking that means a bad cat, but just to let you know I have no cat just header and exaust.

Do you think it could be the Evap canister in the fender well that's bad. If that canister goes bad don't you get really bad gas mileage and poor acceleration? The P0442 code has to deal with the evap emissions control system.

Dweet already told you it's the fact that you removed your catalytic converter. It screws up your sensors so you get a CEL.

Ok so I know it's a catalyst prob. Going to get one and have it put on.
We hooked up his computer again today and my first O2 sensor was at 5.5% and the second one was at 99.?% So will I have to put two new O2 sensors in since my car has been running very rich?
