Default Going catback...

Question: does anyone know if a catback and high flow cat made for the second gen tiburon will fit on a first gen? If not, what kind of modifications need be made? I am buying an MBRP catback and OBX Racing cat made for the second gen, but I own a 99 tib. I'm hoping it fits with little or no modification. Thanks

do you think this is something you should have found out before ordering.
the differences have to be noticeable or they would sell only one product for 97-2002 so you might run into some problems.:ermm:

you're straight. The only thing I can think of concerns the stock header. So you don't need to worry about that. I think most things are identical on a first and second gen. It's really the same car with a couple extra headlights and some different wiring. Seems a lot of peeps think their second gen is somewhat better... who cares. You should be fine with your spiffy new mods.X)

I believe that the header attachments and the hanger are different between 1st and 2nd gens. I have seen this question here before and, if I remember correctly there were fitment problems.

1g and 2g tibs have a different flange at the B pipe, but thats the main difference. The hangers are the same from what I remember.

Forgive me, I am not well versed in the exhaust area of my car, but do you think that it could be made to fit with some welding? I don't want to go ahead with it if it's going to be a hassle and costly to install. Thanks

well, a reputable exhaust shop should be able to make it work, even if it will need some minor welding/fabrication/hanger adjustments...if you want a true "bolt-on" catback though, you might want to return it & order the correct one for your year Tiburon, but then again you'll probably get stuck with some annoying "re-stocking" charge(??). I can't imagine an exhuast shop charging an absurd amount to coax your new catback up under your Tib, but there are shops out there that will try to really bend you over. Goodluck with it...

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I'm gonna give it a try, and if it doesn't work I'll just sell it here or on ebay. Thanks again
