help with these cams. - Hyundai Performance Forums

this question is mainly for i8acobra, but i think it will help some of you out who want to get cams.

now, it says that it replaces both intake and exhaust cam, but
1) will it affect nitrous or turbo? - i know there was some talk about how cams, because they are advanced, you would have to retard them more.
2) will i get the horsepower that they claim?

any help would be good, thanks!

Nitrous should not be a problem.. all that does is cram more air into your cylinders by being denser chemically than the stuff we breath.... I know that with a Turbo you do not want too much overlap in the cams.. (both valves being open) the more you have, the less boost you get. A 268 degree cam does not sound too lumpy.. but you might get better power out of the 1.8 litre cams or the Elantra gt cams with the turbo.

You would probably loose some nitrous.. but as it is a chemical way of packing a cylinder full of oxygen... it is not anywhere near under the same pressures as turbo on the boost.

Your stock ECU will not work with anything bigger than about 240 degrees. You'll need a new ECU to run those cams.

for instance, unichip or cnk's ecu?
