Default Is there anyway t o retard the timing on a 2nd gen tib?

My sc setup is finished, but the engine is detonating at high rpms....now this could be cause there is 7 month old 87 octane gas sitting in it still, or its cause the ignition needs to be retarded, since the tib runs on coilpacks, there is no easy way that i am aware of to retard the timing...so far my options look like an msd ignition, or a piggyback computer....anyways is there anything easier than those two options to retard the timing...I am praying its just the gas, cause it will save me a hell of a lot of money, but in case it isn't, any suggestions?

Well, sometimes the answers are right before your eyes....

First thing I'd be doign if I were you would be to get rid of the old petrol, and get a new tank of higher octane petrol ASAP. If that has solved your problem, then it will be the easiest, cheapest and quickest fix you will find.

If it doesn't solve the problem, then at least you have discounted the petrol as a possible cause, and can continue looking, knowing that one possiblility has been dicounted.

Cheers
