Default Beta 1.8 Camshafts in Beta 2.0

As you know if you put the Beta 1.8 Camsahfts (Intake and exaust), you'll gain up to 17 hp.
In england there were a limited edition of 1996 Fx tiburon, that came with 154 hp. The mods were a new more sportive front bumper, a new spoiler and some modifications in the engine. They were a beter air intake, and the camsaft change. at least +17 hp.

Do you know what hapens to the fuel economy in low speeds? I mean, will it increase the compsumition of gas? And will it be "stable" at low revs?
Do you know, or think that this mod needs a reprogramation in the ECU, or a piggy back one?

Thanks for your atention

fuel injection has done wonders for calming down a lumpy idle... that said... is there anybody here with that mod that can tell us the full skinny first hand?

It might add 17hp if you have every other N/A MOD in the world.

most ppl should probbaly see 5-7hp.

I have this mod. I love it. The cam timing is better. Engine just sounds better.

The little quirky stumble at 3k rpms with the stock 2.0 cam is goen with the 1.8L and its has alot more power on the upper rpms.

This is a definite mod in my book special for $100 bucks it runs.

The 160hp tiburon special edition, Did use the 1.8L cam as I understand but it also was given better engine timing. such as more agressive spark. and better high end fueling.

note to those in the US: I believe the SE model in the states came with the cam but not the extar tuning.

And what about the fuel economy?
For a normal city driving, will it waste a lot more?
This weekend I went 200km/hour (In miles 95mph?) It got the speed very quickly, but went it hit the 200 km/h it started to increase speed very very slowly.
In general: Is this kind of working due to the Camshafts?
If so, the other camshafts would make it go faster up to more speed?

I'm in Spain, here whe you get a "pay" highway" you can drive really fast, because they're the better roads in the country (You pay for that), and there is not used to be police by there. Of course is totally illegal, but nobody goes at maximum 120 km/h speed limit (60 mph?), if you go that speed everybody pass you very fast!
Spain is different!uzzled:

you are looking at a very small increase in HP.

You probably wont notive a drop in gas use at all.

I know squat about cam mod, but i'm willing to learn and to buy one this summer for my tib 2000 SE automatic. I already bored the TB+IM and have a CAI+kn filter. I heard a lot of things about different type of cams, but don't have a clue of what i should put in my car, it seems like i should go with the tib cam 1.8L, am i write? I'm not looking to have a huge hp gain, only a better response. Can somebody help me

thanks a lot.

That was what I was wondering...
The mod itself is to exchange the cams of the 2.0 with the 1.8 ones (They're 2 ofcourse).
It seems that it will give you a power gain in higher revs, but a loss of power in low rpms, but maybe a new fuel controler or something similar will solve this...
You can take a look in the web and search something about Tiburon (Coupe) in United Kingdom, they had a limited edition of 160 hp Tiburones, just with the camsaft exchange, and better air admision, and I supose a reprograming of the ECU.
Good luck! 8D

go to the N/A forum and there is a whole write up and comparison and final evaluation of different cams.
