Default Quick kit question

All the Veilside imitations are crap whether sold from ebay or an online strore, right?
Its better to just dish out the money for the real veilside?

Yes. However, a store might also be an authorized Veilside dealer. Call and check bro, and welcome to the boards!

I was also wondering if it would b smart to raise the car slightly with the veilside kit on to lessen the threat of speedbumps n various road pot holes

you should be good with stock ride height! reguardless you still cann't hit a speed bump at 40! the only way to raise the car would be to install spring rubbers which might not even raise the car but keep the suspension from bottoming out!

Alright... (thanks FAL for the link)...

As much money as you would spend for a 4-piece body kit from Veilside ($1800) you would spend the same amount, if not more, getting a replica "fake" kit off EBay and paying somebody to modify it to fit properly. In one week, I received 3 emails from separate people complaining that they tried to get a body kit like mine and are going to have to pay over $1,000 to have it modified to fit. The side skirts were either too short or too long to fit, or the holes were too small for the headlights and made it impossible to see at night (not enough light emitting from the head lamps).

Trust me, if you're going to get a body kit, get a Veilside. These poor people ordered kits from ImportInnovations, EBay, and JFI motorsports (I believe that's right).

If you get a body kit from Veilside and it has a baby blue gel coat on it, it's NOT authentic. Veilside.com has a list of authorized dealers on their website. I suggest contacting them all individually (e-mail or phone) asking for their prices. I recently did this on a front bumper, and that alone was anywhere from $620-$730, so shop around. You may also get a discount if buying the entire kit.

As for the hood, I have yet to find anybody who has decent pictures of it. I was considering buying one for myself, but have yet to get a good shot. I refuse to dump $400 into something I haven't been able to see. Try to find Khara (red Ixion kit)... she is the only person I know of who has the actual Veilside hood. Oh, and another good thing, I was able to put the body kit on myself (with a friend) without taking it to a body shop and paying them to do it... so once again, you save money. And I believe the holes come pre-drilled in the proper locations (at least their website says they do).

I have seen a Tiburon close to where I live, but only a few rare times. Everytime I have seen it, he has another bondo patch somewhere on his bumper from where it has cracked. In 8 months, mine has yet to crack.... and it probably won't... unless you run it into a curb :nervous: Once again, you'll save money.

YOU WILL SCRAPE
YOU WILL FIND SPEED BUMPS YOU CAN'T GO OVER

Those are facts. I have 17" wheels on right now, 215/40/17 tires. I sit about 3" off the ground at factory height (no suspension mods). You will learn how to drive it fairly quickly, but you will still scrape and get stuck on speed bumps occassionaly (so don't mold your side skirts, it will crack). I would HIGHLY suggest never lowering your car if you plan to get this body kit. With stock wheels I was about 2-2.5" off the ground. Do you have any clue how high that is? Not very... let me put it this way, the height of my Tiburon car key won't fit between the bumper and the ground.

Good luck on what you decide. Myself, I would never buy a 2nd gen Tiburon again without getting a body kit for it. I love mine. By now it's probably taken you 10 minutes to read this, so I'll make it even longer....
:smoking:

:rambo:
Edit: Oh yeah, and about being only 2-3" off the ground... when you consider that most speed bumps in Tennessee are about 3-4" high... and most pot holes are at least 1-2" deep, and when going over speed bumps or hitting pot holes, your springs bounce, yeah, you'll definitely scrape... :

Welcome to the boards, and enjoy your stay!

Yeah...same here, I definitely dig the Ixion kit (minus the ugly spoiler)....yes...you will scrape your bottom....though...I think putting splitters on will extend the life of your front bumpers....which you can get here:

http://www.teamprototype.com/

You should look at other kits before attempting to get the VS kit. Look at Ixion and Cuda...and maybe Zefiro....before you get the VS...the other body kits for the Gen 2 Tib look like crap...though....I'm sure you can mix and match parts of other body kits for something original.
