Why are hood pins used? Is it as an extra saftey in case the hood pops up?

you have to in racing applications. you cant have a latch hold it down it has to be secured with pins.

I think he meant he could only find that one pic. :

That's about where I installed them on my first gen. There's two little rubber hood bumpers that come right out and the holes are damn near perfect for the hood pin bolts. 8D

my problem is my hood shims at speeds over 30mph, and the latch isn't in the best of shape... previous owner did bad bad things to this poor car (glad I was able to rescue it 8D ) and it is less expensive for me to get hood pins than a new hood and latch, plus if I change to a CF or FG hood later it'll be that much easier <G>

I just wanna see where ppl have put the pins
