Also kSpec sells intakes and has this crap about the length of the intake changing the rpm range response. The short intake is supposed to increase hp at high rpm, and the long intake increases hp at low rpm. Bullsh!t right?
Actually this is completely true. The shorter the distance between the cylinder and the outside air, or underhood in this case, the more high rpm power you will get. This is why race cars going for sheer hp will have a velocity stack->carb/TB->cylinder head setup. No more than 6" from atmosphere to the combustion chamber. While others looking for torque will have as large of a spacer as they can between their carb/TB and an intake manifold.
An ideal N/A setup would have four TBs on a rack mounted directly to the head, just like any good motorcycle.

Yeah, I still don't understand why a longer pipe creates more torque. I mean, as long as it's in the pipe, its heating up, so gains should be less. What scientific reason could there possibly be for "longer intake = more torque"?

Probably has something to do with the air speed or how the air is actually moving in the pipe. My bet is with air speed though. I'm honestly not sure why it works that way, I just know it does work that way.
BTW: A well designed system would minimize heat gain(using plastic, reflective material, heat wrap, etc.), of the air in the pipe. The air is also not in there long enough to make a huge difference, at least not in street use. Now if you plan on racing professionally....

all I can tell anybody about heat absobtion into the cai... I have a fairly long cai.. it goes through a hole where the battery was... I can lay my hand on it even after driving in the summer heat.. and it is cool to the touch... cooler in fact than the plastic intake it replaced.

i bought my CAI off ebay for a great price...it got here in like 1 week shipped cross country. the only thing was that there were no instructions, but there are good instructions here on the forums. installed in about an hour. good luck
