Default Alternatives to CAI?

CAIs are expensive (to those of us who are broke) compared to other types of intakes. But what other intakes are available for Tibs? Aren't there any ram air or warm air intakes for the 00-01? If there are, please provide a link.

While I was poking around I found this:

http://www.newtiburon.com/index.php?page=diy-intake

A good idea or total sh!t?

Also kSpec sells intakes and has this crap about the length of the intake changing the rpm range response. The short intake is supposed to increase hp at high rpm, and the long intake increases hp at low rpm. Bullsh!t right?

If you want a budget CAI go with the "True CAI" that ssautochrome sells on ebay. You can pick it up for about $50 and is almost exactly the same as the AEM. Here is a link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38634&item=2427894 102 . The difference is this pipe is cut into two pieces, that's pretty much it.

Dude, you're awesome. My bid is placed. And if I don't win, he's got more ending tomorrow that don't have bids on them yet.

So does anyone have this CAI? I'm just wondering if there's anything I should know about before the auction ends.

Yeah, I have it. It works great! I have cut the top pipe though and added a AEM Bypass Valve to it. Some say it is unnecessary, but it gives me piece of mind down here in Florida.

really.. if you are going to put your intake down low.. you are really playing with fire if you do not install a bypass...

Sort of. Tiburon's are equipped with wheel well covers and splash guards, unlike many other vehicles so you can get away just fine without a bypass valve because the intake sits above the splash guard.

i recommend the bypass valve. i don't have one, and really wish that i did when i drove though what i thought was a shallow puddle. I dowsed the entire inside of the splash guard holding the filter, steamed the radiator, and soaked the filter. i was VERY LUCKY that i didn't hydro-lock the engine. it sputtered a lot when i quickly pulled over. the cost of the valve is well worth the worrying you won't have if you face the same situation i did.

I'm gonna have to get one pretty soon. I won the auction. Aside from javageek (who has one already), what does everyone think of this CAI? It's based on the AEM design, so it should be alright. Should I get heat wrap for it? Do you think it might be as good as an AEM?
