Default Xenon Lighting System

I'm not 100% sure where to post this, but since I'm getting a Tiburon, and putting this in a Tiburon, I put it in the Tiburon forum

So has anyone ever tried this?

The two cars I will if I can do it is in a 2003 Tiburon, 2002 Sonata and 2002 Elantra GT.

Now please note, its not the same as those cheap $50 bulbs you buy at your local performance shop. I'm talking the $800 option that you can get on your BMW 320i.

You probally need some special wiring and maybe a small board to regulate things. Nothing I can really see as being much different then just hooking up the special electrical module to the existing circuitry.

Any takers on this idea? Will I be a fool for tring? I think ESPECIALLY for the XG and the Sonata, it would give it a 'sophistication apeal' and the Tiburon that exotic look as if it was a Porsche or Ferrari.

Maybe I should drop by Mercedes, Acura, BMW dealership and see what they can do about getting me a copy of their headlight circuitry?

I think that it would be a fine idea. I would love to do it to my car. I just don't have that kinda money. Try it out and show us some pics of what it looks like.

You need a "Ballast" to convert the 12V from your car to 25,000V or there abouts. I'm not joking.

Hella and Philips sells these Hella HID Xeon Conversion kits.

actually kool, thats who I was thinking of talking to (Hella).

I'll keep you guys posted, I ll start discussions on Thursday with them through e-mail

Here is a link to the retrofitting:

http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaPortal/WebSite/Internet_en/ProductsServices/ForDriversAccessories/XenonHeadlamps/XenonLightForRetrofitting/XenonLightForRetrofitting.jsp

I took a 2001 BMW 330i out for a spin at night, and my god, I have those crappy halogen blue lights and there was a huge difference between the 330i and my Sonata halogens.

I wonder if theres an option where you don't get headlights for a car from the factory

Shark Racing will be selling HID bulb and balasts shortly. Price about $500 for 2 bulbs and 2 balasts. (most cars will need 1 kit for low beams and one kit for high beams...however, since the HID's are SOO much brigher, you may never need the high beams again!)

I'm getting an advance set in about a week, and I'll have a writeup with photos on the install.

There is a Korean manufactorer call "Vision". Reputed to have "whiter" lights then the Hella.

Check with Sam if he can get his hands on these.

Ok so let me get this straight.

a HID is the same as a Xenon system? I was at a web site trying to figure this out, and they were throwing both terms around and I just got extremely confused.

Cause really, I absouletely HATE white light. It is ridiculously unpractical. When you drive a 330i down a wet road you can see the road and it is slightly blue so you can tell where the road marks are. When I drive down a similar road with my "super white" bulbs with blue tint, I can't see squat till I'm about 10 feet away from the oncoming car that I can tell where the yellow line or white line, is from his lights. I think they are EXTREMELY dangerous. I even have them aimed exactly like how it says in the user manual for the Sonata.

Don't get me wrong though, during a normal night, or snowy night I can see perfect, but when it rains, I can see squat. I even have gotten out of my car to see if maybe the lights had burnt out or I had my driving lights on and not my low beams. I'm not even talking for distance, I m talking literally 2 feet from the front of my car.

I have some RAZO h7 and they work just fine. As a matter of fact, I love them so much I bought them for my Sonata's. They actually worked better on my Sonata than my Tib. They are so bright.
