Default How will the 2003 Tiburon be as a rally car?

Will the new Tib be better or worse for Libra Racing in a rally application? Would they use the V6?

Last word is it is a "touring car". This therefore puts it in the class with the RSX and 3-series coupe.

Rally I think is left to the Accent now.

I wonder how long they can stick with the older model Tiburon, I'm sure Hyundai has some say as they sponsor them. The AWD system was from the HCD concepts, the new Tib doesn't stem from those as far as I can tell.

I don't think they could use the new Tib. Because it is not based on a compact car frame of the Elantra...it uses the midsize Sonata frame. The Tib has moved up a class to the larger sport car arena. A V6 just doesn't allow it to remain.

I was thinking that only 4 cyl where aloud in wrc.... and scca.... im prolly wrong... I always imagined that those subaru bitches would have put something else bigger in if they could... (and my god why didnt they turbo the 2.5 instead of jumping back down the the 2.0..?) Not that i have anything against 2 litre motors or anything<img src=/images/forums/snitz/tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Actually, it uses the AWD system from a Lancer EVO IV, our chassis are practically the same.

Now dont go looking at the US spec Lancer, its a POS and does not even use the same engine as the real one. Close example would be the Mirage which was originaly the US spec Lancer, I actually have seen people convert Mirages to EVO Lancer wannabes.

My guess is they wont go with the new tiburon based on the fact, the car would need to be modified for rally spec, and may fall in a different class just based on engine size and chassis size, also I cannot think of a car that is about the same size as the new tiburon for which they could adapt the AWD system from.

At the moment, My guess is that the current rally tiburon, is really the original chassis they have always had, they basically changed the hood and front and rear bumpers to give it the new 2nd gen look.

Mateus, actually the new Tiburon is still built on the Elantra platform. However, if you get the V6, then the engine subframe will be from a Sonata.
