Default Carbon Fiber Hood, safe?

I was wondering if those carbon fiber hoods were just as safe as the stock hood? is Carbon Fiber just as strong? Thanks
~Nick

What do you mean as far as safe?

It's stronger than fiberglass, but not as strong as metal. If you get a c/f hood I would recommend purchasing hood pins to hold the hood down or the hood will shake violently when driving over 65 mph due to its light weight.

I have never heard of any problems due to safety. As long as it is installed properly you will be fine. (ie-Hood pins)

well... the material carbon fiber alone is better at absorbing more impact and dissipating it, but im not sure if that is safer than metal. Only a crash test will tell the answer.

A lot of race cars have carbon fiber bodies on them, so I guess its safe to use it on a car hood for normal driving.

Your hood does jack for protecting you in an accident anyway. It's not as strong, but don't worry about it.
