I understand that the new tib is to have something in the way of 190ish horsepower. I also heard a rumor that the damn thing is going to weigh like 3400lbs. that puts power to weight ratio pretty darn close the the existing 4 cyl tib. (2633lbs with man. trans.) sure the thing has a 6 speed (which is awesome) but I am gonna really have to watch this car closely to be truely impressed. It looks really really cool though. If you have heard any conflicting rumor, or even better fact. Please post so that I dont look at hyundai with a "what the hell where you thinking" attitude. However that v6 should get good power out of tuning, because 190ish power sounds pretty de-tuned to me, and intake and exhaust should make significant improvements. or I would think, but prolly the vast majoirty of you guys know much much more about that kinda stuff than i do.

The 2003 tiburon will come stock with
181hp with 177lbs of torque.
Alot of people on this site think 181 hp is weak for a V6 motor, but they are forgetten that torque is what gets you up there quick. This car has almost as much torque as it does hp. This car will also be very responsive to mods. A CAI with a full exhaust will put this car in the 200hp range. And don't forget this car beat a RSX stock vs stock, and it has 200hp, Just remember, torque is the key!

Turbo=Torque, Torque= More fun!
I heard the V6 Tib is going to weigh in at 2900lbs...which would be very good for a 181hp v6 powered car. We'll have to wait and see when it hits the US before we'll know for sure (unless 4doorGL already knows and can shed some more light on this for us).
If you think 181hp is weak out of a 2.7 liter V6 engine, take a look at any domestic V6 NA engine and see how large they have to be to get that or more! (GM has to have a 3.8 liter to get 200hp). Ford and Chrysler do have decent 6's though.
Everything I've heard on the new Tib points the V6 to about 2900 lbs, which is right on par with all the new 4-cyl "super compacts" (ie: Civic Si, Sentra SE-R, RSX, etc.)

Hi guys, I'm new in here in this forum, but all that I now is that 181 HP for a car that is weighting 3000 pounds is not the kind of car that we are expecting for a Coupe /Tiburon, but we have to see the tecnology of the engine. for example, the Civic with the VTEC engine tecnology is pretty good for a car that is a 1.4; the volskwagen Jetta is 2.0 and it has only 115 HP with a lot of weight but they run pretty fast. I like he new coupe is very beautifull but I think that this new coupe will not have the power that we need
Uhhhm It beat the RSX in a race by several car lengthes. The car has already been proven to be quick.
Correct me if I am wrong guys
0-60 7sec
1/4 mile times are 15.??
And with the v6 engine it will respond alot more to aftermarket mods. This is incredible for a car that should still price under $20,000
I do not think anyone will be dissapointed

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.
I wonder why they didn't put the 3.5L V6 or better yet the 4.5L V8. I wonder what the 3.5L would do in a 1/4?
