My friend got a 99 tiburon fx and he is thinking about getting the aem cai. Is this a good first mod for this car? Also, I know on saturn the cai will not work for auto's. Does the aem work for the auto tib's?

its a great first mod, but you can find very similiar CAI on ebay for way cheaper.

ask what your friends hp goal is. if its under 200, tell him to go n/a. if its anything remote to 200 or above, tell him to save his money and go turbo. there's nothing like wasting 3 grand and only running 14's.
No, it's a fact for saturns. The transmission filter makes it impossible. To get a cai for an auto saturn, you have to run over to the other side of the engine bay, which would make it not even worth it due to the heat of the exhaust manifold. Don't question me on saturn tech.:

He just wants his car to look nice and have some go to it. He also wants it to be quiet. Also, what are some good 15" in. gunmetal rims that will fit the tib's? That will probably be the next thing after the cai.
so your saying its because there is no room. that makes sense. when people are new to the site and say something like "the CAI wont work on an auto", it kinda gets me thinking that somebody who doesnt know what they are talking about misinformed them.
just tell your friend to do a search on ebay for "cold tiburon". he will find what he wants. a lot of people have bought the no name CAI and are very happy with them.
Ok, I did a search for him and found some for $48 and $39. I'm sure he'll go for that. I went w/ aem just for the quality and proven dyno #'s, but I think at this price, he will be happy with it.
