Default Any electrical wizards here?

Not me, and I work for an electrical company.:??: Anyways, you know how the A/C automatically turns on when you put the fan on the defrost setting? I want that disconnected!!! Any know how?

I just hate driving around with the a/c on. Sucks the life right out of this riceburner.

If you do that, the defroster won't work. The defroster uses the high pressure (or "hot") side of your A/C system to heat the air. If the compressor isn't running, the air won't get hot.

But I can MANUALLY click the button myself to turn on the A/C. I just want to blow regular air sometimes to the windsheild without the A/C being on.

wow, jon, you came out of your shack. she's THAT good eh? =P

apparently, there's no way to do this without disconnnecting ac. sorry man, but when you defrost and your knob (hahaha, i said knob) is on "Hot", your not sucking power from your rice burner. at least i don't think so. anyway, when you floor your accel, it disconnects anyway, so what gives? hehehe. latez mang!

On my car the compressor can be turned off while in the defrost mode, if yours doesn't do this just put the air to the floor. you need the a/c to dehumidify the air before its heated and blown on the glass.

i'm sure if you take off the dash and shoot some wire you'll get the one you need. it can be done i've heard of it being done but i wouldn't do it.

My 96 Accent never did this so the new Accents probably don't either.

I just know that while I'm driving and turn the upper vent on, the A/C button automatically lights up and the car slightly jerks. It's not just for giving me hp upon flooring it, it's also for gas consumption. I get a lot better gas mileage when the a/c is off.

I'll look behind the dash when I get a chance, maybe there is a "signal" wire that comes from the directional vent knob. If so, then......."snip".

Just be careful that cutting the wire doesn't make it so the A/C never works, or won't shut off... probably a slim chance that'll happen, but you never know...
