I just orderd a B&M short shifter that was suppose to be for a 01 tib, but wasn't. I called the company and they said that that was the one for that year. It was part #45119 on the hpshop. Has anyone else had these problems?:hmmm:
I had that problem when I ordered my b&m shifter from my local shop. I ordered one for my 01 tib, not knowing that my car was actually made in late00' , so I had to get the shifter for an 00. They are 2 different part #'s

Some of the '01's use the '00 shifter. You can thank Hyundai for that.

tell me about the install..is it easy?? recommend a prefessional? i have no idea ( i just got a 2001 5speed tibby) if we can do it ourselves, what difficulty level would you put it in?? 1-10? 10 hardest. what kinda tools needed?
well first clarify your manufacture date of the car and determine if you need the 00 or 01 shifter and the install is about a 2 maybe 3 on the 1-10 scale. tools needed are a socket set, flat and philips screwdriver and needle nose pliers. u probably wont need teh flathead though its always hgood 2 have one around hehehe.

the best way to find out which shifter you need is to pop up the shifter surround and look at you shifter plate. If it's black then you need the 97-00 model #45115. If is is white, then you need the other #45119.
the install is very straight forward. It takes about 10-15 mins. You don't have to be mechanically incline to do the job. All you need is, I believe, a small adjustable wrench and a long nose plier. .
as far as checking which one i need...i dont know what a shifter plate is to see what color it is...any pics??? easier ways to tell..i might order one pretty quick here..
