in the instructions step 6 says:
" carefully remove return spring."
step 13 says:
"carefully install return spring, note:install corresponding hardware in noted order from step 6"

it would be nice if step six said to take note of order of removal of hardware:hmmm:
it took me 2 diff combinations to get my shifter to return to the nuetral position:embarrassed:

Are you talking about the instructions that came with the shifter, or my install guide, which is posted in this forum (here: http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=39319 )? We had no input in the installation instruction that come with the shifter. In my installation guide, I tell you what order the parts go in. Please refer to step #17.

I wish I would have read through the forums on this site before I purchased my shifter. Found out the hard way that I have the 97-00 style shifter in my car. Anyway, I sold the '01 shifter on ebay and am now saving money to get the right shifter.

Dude it's been like 3 weeks now since I installed a short shifter to my 98 Tib. Nice and it feels great shifting. But 1 thing... even if the knob is in a current gear the knob still hasa lot of movement to its sides...I don't know what is happening but the stock bushings where still in mint cond. What could of possibly go wrong...???

Nothing is wrong. Cable shifters are like that. It's not gated like a Ferrari shifter.

I was doped on E-bay also! All the shifters are 01 style and all claim 97-01. For your own sake, look at your shifter BEFORE buying one! Don't trust that it will be the right one (even tho it says 97-01)....grrrr
