Default Electric superchargers?

Has anyone used one on their 01 tiburon and what type of power did they get out of it? I found one on ebay and wanted to know about it a little from other bodies besides what I could find on it.

dear lord, he broke rule number 13

check number 13. :

rather than just posting that and calling you a newb(as so many others do :sleepy: ), i will tell you why they dont help, or why people say they dont help(have never tried one so wouldnt know). they say its worthless because it puts more strain on the battery, which hurts the hp more than it can add with boost.

I'm going to give a serious answer to this question, rule 13 be damned.

In order for an electric fan (no matter what you call it, it's a fan) to create enough airflow to acutally have an effect it would have to move 170 SCFM at 1/4 PSI. Why? At 100% VE, the 2.0L engine needs 169 CFM and you need at least 7 in/h20 pressure to overcome the inherent restriction in the stock MAF. (Don't believe me, go do the math and manometer testing yourself)

There is an effective power limit because of the source and system, a 12VDC system can only supply so much power to an additional thing like this. So something around 500 WATT power limit is in effect.

There is a size limit in effect. there is only so much space in our engine compartment to work with.

So we need something that is small (about .75 cubic feet max), lightweight (under 5 pounds), and within our self-imposed 500W limit. To my knowledge there is no purpose built fan that meets these requirments, and I've been looking for 8 months on and off. None of the fans on ebay that I've seen can move air over 1"/h20 static pressure.

The only product I've seen that comes close is the E-ram (td) electric supercharger. But at $400 I don't consider it worth the price to find out it might not work.

Official pitch if someone that reads this board bought an E-ram and doesn't want it any more, I will buy it off ya. Email me at blackdragon@harbornet.com if you don't want to post on here that you bought one.

The E-ram does give any gains either. In order for a pure electric s/c to push enough CFM to create power, it would drain an equal amount if not more.

Everyone keeps saying that, Auto. (regarding the eram, that is) There was a thread on some forum at one point I guess, where someone bought one and tested it with less than spectacular results, but I've not read it and noone has any actual test data to show me (no I'm not from Missouri) I'd welcome some.

Which is why I'd like to get my hands on one and do some testing myself. Call it curiousity, call it stubornness, I like to see things for myself.
