how thick are our cylinder walls?
wondering how thick our cylinder walls are planing on going from our stock 3.230 inch to 3.345 inch. its .115 of a inch not much for a stock motor but planing on running large amounts of boost and hitting big numbers. I was thinking of having the motor bored then sleved to the correct size or would just boring be fine? looking to have a cylinder wall of .200 thousands or more to hold. Has anyone measured this?

I do not think you can "sleeve" the Beta... or the alpha. I think that is only for cars like the Hondas and the old English cars...

Re: how thick are our cylinder walls?
to answer your question, no. No one as ever had the cylinder thickness tested. I plan on it, as soon as I can find a decent shop to do it.

Re: how thick are our cylinder walls?
It should not be hard to figure out.. the hard part will be finding the water jackets...

Uh, water jackets are REALLY EASY to figure out/locate.:hmmm: The entire cylinders are SURROUNDED BY WATER!!!:hmmm:
What is HARD to figure out, is the thickness of the metal. It must be sonically tested. Not easy or cheap.:dead:

Re: how thick are our cylinder walls?
I was wondering how you were going to test.. I was hoping it would not be through destructive means...
And from what I know of Most engines (Maybe the Beta is differnt) there are areas of the cylinder walls where there are no water jackets...

Re: how thick are our cylinder walls?
you can sleeve any motor ours would be even easier as it has now water jackets with sleeves the engine becomes outrageously strong as mild steal is 3 or 4 times stronger against cracking than cast iorn. (same thickness) if anyone though has measured the wall thickness please let me know hoping its close to .300 or more would be nice.
