Default high pitched whine at idle

recently my car developed a high pitched squeal at idle. it happens after a few minutes of idleling. any touch of the throttle, even very slightly, causes it to go away.. until the idle settles down again. i have FX couple without aircon. I thought it might be dried out belts. but i sprayed some RP7 on them and it didnt help. any ideas?

How many K's has your coupe Done? It could be the waterpump, Powersteering or the Timing Belt. Mines up to 90K (about 56miles) and it has just started a squeek  Apparently it's the Timing Belt. I haven't had mine changed yet, I'm waiting for a pulley kit from Kspec before having it changed.8D

check your serpentine(spelling) belt. see if it has any cracks in it.. could use a replacement, or just put a bit of ajax (what i've read from dsm.org) on it

I have the same problem. It happens sometimes when the engine is cool and runs idle. I get this queeky sound. As soon as I touch the gas or the engine warms up a bit the noise is gone.

Timing belt you say? Could be. I checked and re-strapped mine and the problem comes a lot less now...
