Default timing belt gone bad in 10k miles

i kno thats not true, but about 10k miles ago i had all my belts changed including the timing belt. cost me a butt load bc i didnt kno how/ trust myself to open my engine up and replace the belt. at like 70k miles it got changed and im at about 80k now but somethings been wrong ever since then but i could never figure this out...

it whines real bad, like when i rev it, u get that intake WHOMP in the beginning but on its return to idle the engine whines real cheesey, its kinda embarassing, its never done it until i got the belts changed. my bro has an RD2 and his doesnt make this noise.

are the belts on too tight? too lose? should i adjust it or what?

Belts could be to tight to loose , or a bad pully just wiggle the belts and see if there are loose i'm willing to bet that your water pump is making the noise.

This brings up a good question for me. On the Fiat spider it is recommended that you replace the idler pulley bearing with every other belt change (about every 20,000 to 25,000 between belts on the fiat).. what of the Beta engine? Should I replace the tensioner bearing too?

your belt tensioner's probably on too tight. It is on me and I get the same sound u do. But I don't want to screw with changing it myself. From what I hear, its only meant to tighten one way, so one its too tight, throw it away and get a new one, though, I don't think its worth trying to play with, unless you have good tools. I say bring it back to the shop, make them fix it, its probably got a warranty.
