Default What do I do?

I want to beef up my horse power but I need to know what to do first and what not. I know that I should get new headers, pulleys, exhaust, and what not, but what should come 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on? I dont want to go out and buy anything that I will just have to replace because i bought something that requires me to get some ells. Also what brands should I be looking for? whats the best? What types a prices are good? Where can I find them? Oh yeah, I have a 1997 tib. man. 1.8L. can someone please help me?

depends what your goin for n/a or turbo..
from what you've wrote it seems like you want to go n/a.. first thing i would suggest is getting a CAI.. much debate has been talked about of which CAI is better.. either AEM or Injen.. those are your brand names.. you can also get an AOS CAI which is also good.. if you dont feel liek spending the money for the name then just go on ebay and search for some cheaper intakes that are designed the same as an AEM or injen..
then i would work and getting a catback then header and cat.. and then BBTB and port matched IM.. when you get to that point, you'll have a better idea of whats next.. its all preference really..
