Default Help Building Custom Dual Exhaust For 00 Cuda Tib...

Heres, the deal,

I just got a new 00 Tib and ordered the Cuda C1 kit from Shark. Now obviously I'll have to get the exhaust redone to double so I can fit the bumber on and for it to look the best. I don't know much about exhaust so I'll be getting it build for me. I know it'll be coming off OBX 4-1 Ceramic headers. I want the most power increase I can get. I was thinking 2.5 inch catback? What mufflers should I put at the ends then? I know the Cuda kit comes with tipcs but you'll still beed a muffler right? I just want the best perfomance increase I can get off the new exhaust. Also should I get the guy to build my exhaust use all stainless steel or what? Anyone who knows anything about turning my Tib into a dual exhaust pimp please help me. Thanks alot.:smoking:

Also sound isn't really a huge issue. Just don't want somethign so loud it sound slike shit or I'll get pulled over allt he time with.

sup man.. here is what i did, with the help of Spiffywerks (dont wanna take credit from Da CudaPimp : )

anyway.. first.. obviously get your kit put on first before you do your exhaust so the shop can line up the pipes correctly. What Spiffywerks told me to do was get a Single In/Dual Out muffler. Your pipe from the header back will go into the muffler, then the two outlet pipes will go to the exhaust holes in the kit. I have 2.5" piping myself with a hi flow cat. I HAD the obx/ssautochrome headers on as well.. but the sound was so loud and unbearable, i took the header off and put my stock ones back on. I have a resonator before the muffler too, and the sound was still too loud. That is about all you need to know from what i can remember. If you have any questions.. post here or email me at MattFulton@earthlink.net

I also have an extra Single In/Dual Out muffler for sale. I have an extra one because i thought the loudness was coming from the muffler, so i replaced the muffler and it was still loud.. leading me to believe it was the header, which came to be true when i took them off. So anyway.. email me if interested in buying the muffler.. it was used for like 2 weeks and nothing is wrong with it. I'm letting it go for pretty cheap cuz i have no use for it.. email me if interested.. thanks8D

dual doesnt really flow with the RD2s too well...could be considered rice..but like i always say.. to each their own...but i really understand why u want to do it, the cuda kit had 2 openings..BigBoi's idea would be the best i guess....Apex'I N1 mufflers are nice...I dont have a problem (not too loud or crappy sounding) with my OBX-R bomb8D:rambo:

Wait...you have duals? :??:

...such a bad idea for an I4 because you lose power rather than gain power...you end up dividing the exhaust as if it were 2 2-cylinders...rather than dividing exhaust, say on a V-8, as a 2 4s. uzzled:

I don't think you clarified to us before about those duals when you posted the pics in Showroom...but yeah...your car would've been fine if that had been a non-working exhaust...rice or not...it would be there just to make the rear end look even and balanced. uzzled:

i dont have duals... to have TRUE duals on a 4 banger.. u would have two pipes coming from the block back.. this is not what i have.

A simple single in/dual out muffler is what both spiffywerks and myself have. Have i noticed any loss in performance? NONE.. nor have any of the times i talked to George/Spiffywerks has he ever said anything about loss of performance.

So now all of a sudden cuz i post that i have "duals" as u would like to call it... both my car and spiffywerks cars are of lesser quality and have lost some aspect of appearance to you?

like i have said here and other boards.. bash my car all day if u want.. cuz it's mine and i could care less if u like what i've done or not. But at least have some form of proof of what u are talking about before you start making these lil faces --> uzzled: I mean.. if u can show me proof somewhere somehow that with the setup/muffler i have has really made me lose THAT much power.. then show me and i'll kick my own ass.

I to am going to run into this same problem with my Cuda kit. How much was the cost to have them install the single in, dual out muffler wit the second pipe? And is it a real bastard for them to do this?

I ordered my kit in June 03, amd didn't recieve it till October 03. Going to show that shark racing doesn't deliver very well.

So what should I do then? Yes it's an I4. It looks kind ab if ya have 2 openings in the back but only 1 exhaust coming out. Anymore ideas at all would be great. I wan't max performance I can get without it sounding like a dirtbike.

Also when I get the exhaust made should I get it all in stainless? What do you guys do? Thanks alot.

wow.. so u got ur info from other ppl on this site. What a great source. Still doesnt prove anything to me just cuz others have posted saying this and that. Never saw any dyno sheets when i researched this before i did mine. And the fact is, even if there were dyno sheets out there.. like i said, i can't feel any difference in performance from before and after i did mine. And if you wanna just go strictly off of what ppl have said and not proven.. how come Random is also the one that suggested this setup to me after Spiffywerks did his?

I couldn't tell u a cost.. might wanna just go to a few muffler/exhaust shops and get a quote from them. Muffler itself should be $80-100, piping should be fairly cheap if you are just going to have them put in the two exit pipes coming off the muffler(not going to do a full catback is what im saying), labor depends on the shop too i would say. It is pretty simple to do for a shop, especially if you arent doing a full catback.

I say go with the setup Spiffywerks and myself have. But that's just my opinion. Yes, i agree it would look dumb if u had an empty opening, and agree even more that it would look dumb if u rigged up the second exhaust tip that comes with the kit just to make it look like "duals". But what doesnt look dumb is seeing the exhaust in the cold weather coming out of both pipes, compared to just having one with the exhaust coming out. Whether or not u will get "max" performance , i have no idea, but as i have said, i dont feel any difference in mine then from what it was before.
