How much mileage did you get out of your factory tires?
How many miles did you get out of the factory rubber? The car has close to 40K miles on it now & is still on the same Michelins (XP4?? I forget the specific tire model) that the car came with when we purchased it at the dealership.
I was recently told that the car is developing a shimmy at highway speed and that it doesn't "feel" right (it's her car, not mine). I remember glancing at the tires a couple weeks ago and there was still adequate tire tread (no signs of abnormal tire wear either) left so we said that we'd worry about new tires this spring but this "shimmy" sounds like a balancing/alignment issue - what do you think?
Any "good" tire suggestions for us? I was thinking it's probably just better to suck it up and buy four new tires now and if there's still a problem, then opt for an alignment. Thanks for your suggestions...

45,000 on the stock Tib tires. Getting rid of those pieces of junk was one of the best thing ever done to the car. When you change them out, get 205/55/15. You will thank me for it. Also get a better brand tire like kuhmos.
Also, the vibration probably is balancing. It is possible a wheel weight fell off.

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.

Hey, thanks for the sizing suggestion - it would be a little nicer to have a larger contact patch / footprint for traction purposes. I'll check out tires.com & that tirerack site.
Good call on the wheel weight, I was also thinking that one of them might have fallen off (leading to a balancing problem). I'll check that out next time I drive her car.

I put 62,000 on my original Michelin energys... and I concur... getting rid of those things is the BEST thing you can do. I only keep them around now for when the car goes into the shop.. no need for the dealer to know about the 205/45/16s the car wears now.

I got 38K from the XGT V4s that came with my tib. They were a decent tire, just the same I was glad to get some more performance oriented tires on the car.
Re: How much mileage did you get out of your factory tires?
i actually like my XGT V4's.... i just rolled over 42k :depressed::cry: and they prob got about 1 or 2k left in em.. can't wait til summer tho for my rims and good tires.

Re: How much mileage did you get out of your factory tires?
i got about 10k miles on the stock tires, i never burn my tires or anything but i have to say the stock tires suck ass. I dont know if i got a set of defective tires or not but one of my stock tires only has about 6500 miles on it because it blew out with about 3500 miles on the original. The "new" one i got is already below inspectable level. I know its not my car because i had my 17's on it this summer and put about 10k on those and they still have 75% tread left on them
