1.8 wanna swap a 2.0

ok guys my 1.8 tib(revision a) motor is dieing..well i am in the process of buying parts for a turbo kit..and i am talking to someone about buying their auto-manual swap kit..well i have a friend whose father owns a junkyard and can get me a 2.0 of out a 2000 tiburon..now i know i need the ecu..but is that all i need..or is better that i try to find a 2.0 out of a 97 or even maybe just stick with a 1.8 out of a 97 tib?

if you plan on going turbo stick with a newer 1.8L its the best for boosting:rambo:

i still need to know if a beta from a 2000 tib will work in my 97 rev a tib..will i need just the ecu?

yes it would work, dont know if you need ECU too...i think you do though...they are the same engine (Beta 1) so its a direct bolt on

mikeelantra..thanks for the replies...just so i understand..then what is the beta2?..is it the 2.0 in the the 2003 tib's?

the Beta2 is in the XD elantras (01-03) and in the GK tibs (03) its basically the same cept' its MAP not MAF....
There is now a Beta3...its in the new XD2 Elantras (04+) and the GK tibs (04+) its back to MAF again...

i recently swapped my 1.8 for the 2.0. i did not need a new ecu when swapping. stick with the 1.8 headers when you swap the 2.0 is junk.
