Default Going for high compression!

Has anyone modified their Tiburon engines by installing high compress pistons?
I have here 1,6L Beta Tiburon 1997 model and I am thinking about this concept.
I know that not many of you recognise 1,6L engine in Tiburon but they do exists! :|
I have contacted piston manufacturer to make these pistons but the minimum quantity is 12pcs!
I am thinking about raising the compression from 9,85 to 12 or 13!
Does anybody know if there is something else that needs to be done to make this work?
Stronger connecting rod or modified ignition?
Any comments appreciated 8D

well, to make the best of that kind of compression.. you are going to need hotter cams, head flow work, better fueling, and a higher octane than we have here in the states. I would think minimum 95 ron or about 103 for those of us using the american method

I currently have the head off my 2.0L Tib. waiting for my high compression pistons to arrive. I'll be running 100 octane.

How much would the compression be after you have modified?
Is there nothing else that you are thinking about to modify by using these high compression pistons?
What do you think you will gain in power?

I was thinking maybe about cams from 1,8L engine as I believe they are the most aggressive ones, not sure about the head flow work( I would need to learn to do it myself! ), stronger fuel pump maybe and we have 100 octane fuel over here that I would be using.
Should I be using more aggressive cams than from 1,8L engine and use bigger fuel injector?
I guess I could go for injector from 2,0L engine!
Changing in-tank fuel pump, is that not difficult task?
I mean finding fuel pump that fits?

I am not sure on the specs of the 1.6 cams.. but compared to the 1.8 and 2,0.. only the exhaust on the 1.8 is more aggressive.. the exhaust is the same.

Basically it is like this.. running lean on a high compression engine is just as bad as running lean on a boosted one. You might not get the same results, and you should have more time to back down before it breaks.. but it will break your engine.

Why do you say that I will get lean?
I am not forcing more air into the engine like the turbo does!
I am not modifying the air/fuel ratio by changing piston compression!
Or am I? :??:

Arthur, I can see that you have Fiat 124 Sport Spider?
My wife owns Fiat 124 coupe 1973! :
