Are there no other options for a catback for the 01' than these two places? I was going to buy the EVO fusion from Import shark, but then they emailed me and told me they were having fitment problems and not to place my order, which i was planning on doing Tuesday. I don't want to pay that much for the mbrp and i don't want to wait that long (6-8 weeks or $50 more for 2 week<now too expensive>) for the SR exhaust. Surely there must be more 01' owners with oem catbacks on that can offer me some suggestions. I've done the search thing and i got hundreds of posts that did not help me any. I want to finish off the exhaust soon so I can enjoy it for at least part of the summer.
Re: no other options than Speedstate or Shark racing?
It's getting to the point that we don't really have a good pre fit setup for the RD's man, MBRP has stopped making most of the exhausts they were making, and it seems the decent one that OBX was making has dissapeared.
What are we left with? Well, there are SEVERAL in Korea of course, but we don't import them because they are big and expensive to ship. A friend of mine here in NM has the RSide catback and it looks fantastic and has the nicest sound I've heard from an exhaust.
The Monza is still around and pretty cheap, they sell it here on HP, but I think it's not stainless and I remember hearing a few folks on HA.com way back when complaining that it rusts out. NOT HP's fault.
There is that one, by HKS, superior name brand and good quality, but I don't know how much of an exhaust that is, if it's from the header back or what. It says Rear Section so I'm apt to think it's from the Resonator back. I'm an idiot though so who knows. No pics.
You'll see some on Ebay now and then man but nothing spectacular. We need an alternative GOOD sounding GOOD fitting Stainless FULL Catback.
Your best bet, right now, is to find a good muffler that you like the tone of like the Apexi N1, and get a local exhaust shop to make you a custom Stainless Catback, 2.25 in diameter, with mandrel bends.

We will be making a cat-back soon. We'll be doing a group buy for the initial run and will have them in the store after that. We'll be making them right here in Las Vegas.

No, not that soon. I'm shooting for end of July to announce the GB and pricing. Material will be aluminized steel, not stainlees due to the fact that we can sell them for less. Once the GB is over, we might start offering them in stainless. The first ones we're doing will be for the RD Tib and the GK Tib. The GK Tib exhaust will be a single outlet for lighter weight, not a dual.

Re: no other options than Speedstate or Shark racing?
For most of the world, there is nothing wrong with well-made aluminized steel exhaust. None of the car manufacturers use stainless for their exhaust pipes and yet some offer up to 8 year warranties on the exhaust. Obviously it can last (and probably longer than any of us will own our cars).
Re: no other options than Speedstate or Shark racing?
Any idea what vicinity the pricing will be in? I suppose I could wait. Ijust want to get it done while i have the cash. Im taking my car to a local machine shop to see if they can bore out my IM. if they can for cheap i will get a new TB and then pick up the exhaust when you do the GB. I have to work on a budget because I get $200 a month expense for my car so i try to plan out all my purchases ahead of time so i always have something coming in.
Anyways i would rather get it from you guys, you know support the home team and all.
Re: no other options than Speedstate or Shark racing?
Sorry, no prices yet. But, we're keeping in mind that most people don't have tons of cash to spend. This is why we're not offering stainless right away. Our exhausts are going to be all about maximum bang-for-the-buck. We're going for maximum HP gain at the lowest price possible, not looks. Even if we do offer stainless eventually, it won't be polished. Basically, everything Motiv develops will be for street cars or race cars, not show cars.
