Default Cupholder

My girlfriend just bought a 2000 tiburon. and she went to use the cupholder, now the thing wont go back in. like ill push it in then itll slide right back out again. help please

did she buy it from a dealer?

you might be able to get them to fix it for free MAYBE. you proably will need a new cupholder assembly.

maybe you should open it up and take a look at it to see if anything is out of the ordinary. just take off the shifter knob, pop up the shifer surround, and then pull out gently on the radio surround. unplug the connector for the cig lighter, then you can just undo the 4 screws that hold the cupholder in from the back.

Probably one of two things.
Either the catch is broke (obvious)
Or it is gummed up with soda and uther sticky beverages and won't catch.

Try spraying a mild cleaner down there and then pushing it in and out to work the solovant in. Something as simple as windex may do the trick.

It's also VERY easy to dissasemble the entire thing and clean it. I did mine before I painted the front fasica.

Redz with the doubtle post!

I tend to think it is gummed up. The fact that it was closed before lends credeance to this. If it was compleatly broken, unless the seller jammed it closed (then it would have been hard to open) it would have sprung open on her long before hand.
