i have a problem with my tranny.
first of all, i was working to change my clutch so i took all the bolts and links off.
i even took of the cross-membrane(is that what it's called??) and the engine mount in the middle. but the problem started when i tried to take it off.
i had 2 machanics and 2 other guys helping me on it but the tranny won't slip off.
i tried with pry-bar and big screw drivers but when it is about 1-2 inches off it won't come out anymore. and right when i let go of the pry bar and screw driver, it just pops right back in. feels like the pressure plate is messing with me but i don't know. it's my first time working on the clutch for my car. i don't want to take the car to the shop because money issue and my car is sitting in my auto-mechanic school.
well, anyone had these problems?? it won't come off! it feels like spring is extending when i pull the tranny out, and pop back on when i let it go. please help!
$20 says you forgot to remove the shift lever that the slave cylinder connects to. I did the same thing my first time. Undo the nut and pull it out and the tranny will slide right off like butter. :
I have a feeling he's using the old Chris H clutch changing DIY. I used it my first time and had the same problem. Just a "minor" detail Chris left out.
well,, i took all the links off and the bolts. anyone happen to have a diagram of how to take it off. not the service manual but like a real life photo. anyone?
Even so...you wouldn't *think* you'd have to remove it. I don't have any pics...but it's pretty simple. You have the slave cylinder...and on top of the tranny near the motor is a greenish grey flat metal rod that the slave cylinder is bolted to and pushes when the clutch is pressed. It has a nut on top of it. Remove the nut and pull that bad boy off. Voila.
you mean that the slave cylinder is the black one that is connected to the clutch fluid.. raii? it has a hose that goes to the clutch fluid tank and it moves when you step on the clutch... am i right??
