Default Cold Air Intake or Short RAM Intake

I'm looking into changing the air filter system on my tib (I've already done the "Snorkus Mod" as shown on the Uk Hyundai Coupe Site and found a nice difference in sound and performance) and I'm wondering if I could be pointed in the right direction as to which system to go for. Shopping around in the UK, what's available looks like the Short RAM Intake (Powertec, Pipercross, K&N etc) and there isn't any mention of the AEM or Injen products.

Which would be better to go for, Cold Air Intake or Short Ram filter (maybe with a heat shield)?

Also would American based engine parts fit European based car (Different Highway regulations might mean different spec engines...I dunno, though)?

Is your car MAP or MAFS based? If it uses a MAP sensor, I'm not sure how well a US-spec CAI would fit since it's designed for our MAFS based cars. Should be easily fixable though with a custom elbow to the TB.

I've used a SR and a CAI, the CAI wins hands down. Especially the AEM.

first of all, MAP or MAF does not really matter for the CAI. the angles are the same.
you will just need to get the length extended.
i am probably sure that UK are MAP since the engines are similar to the korean ones.
(1.6 Beta from Avante/Elantra <-- same car, 1.8 Tiburon/Avente, 2.0 Tiburon)
just get short pipe from like a part store and weld it on or just use fittings.
not sure about the length, but diameter is 3 inch.
thats about all.
or just make one for yourself. it's not that hard. just buy some pipes (mendrel-bent. no crush bent) and weld or fit it with rubber fittings. paint it afterward just for better looks.
OR try contacting KSpec (David). he will be able to get you the part you are looking for.
just go to www.kpec.com and email him. tell him you want a CAI for MAP based ones.
korea has them. and he can probably get you one for good price.
