4doorGL,

It was awesome! I just posted the pics up at my dads place just to get them up but needed to get back home to get some sleep and a shower, I'm going back tomorrow for the Rolex 24! So here is my write up:

The Keymotorsports people are the nicest, friendliest group you could meet. When I finally found them at the paddock I went right over to look at the cars and take pictures. They look so sweet in person. Then I went over and asked who 'key guy' was and they pointed me to Benoit (sp?) I would have taken his picture but he didn't want to be all over the internet so I obliged him. He was extremely nice and enthusiastic about the cars. We chatted for awhile and they even tried to feed me and give me drinks. He wanted me to hang out and chat before the race. I had to go off and find my friend that I was meeting there but couldn't find him so I made my way back. I just hung back out of the way and observed. The whole operation seemed very professional. Benoit told me that they had qualified one of the cars in second I beleive and that they were faster than the Bmw's in their class in the straights. Apparently the Bmw crews complained to the race marshals that the Tib was too fast hinting that they had cheated to get that much speed. Benoit says that they have about 230Hp in them. Modifications that he told me about are:

Headers
Exhaust dumps straight out just in front of back wheel
Cold air intake
Different computer chip (maybe to straighten out the apparently shitty fuel maps?)
adjustible suspension (in the back are the motion control suspension units you can see in the pictures)

I'm assuming the chip plays a big part in the hp jump as intake and headers/free flow exhaust alone doesn't seem like it would get you 230.

The cars seemed to handle really well. I even saw one of them take a supra down the straights. When they started it up in the paddocks I was totally surprised, definately no mild mannered smooth v6 sound coming out of them. They sounded mean as hell, with a lumpy sounding idle which makes me think maybe there are some lumpier cams hiding in there somewhere. To sum it all up, if you are anywhere near one of the Grand-Am Cup races, Go! They will treat you right and you get to see everything up close and personal. Oh yeah, he did ask me if I thought there was much of a market for Hyundai aftermarket. I told him that it was definately growing and that more mainstream companies were starting to pick up (AEM) so I'll just have to wonder about what he was getting at like the rest of you!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

First, I would like to thank Justin for coming and visit us in Daytona. Your presence was greatly appreciated by all.

Our fist race has been really impressive. For a brand new car (fresh out of the box, never been really tested), the 2003 Tiburon is quite a car. Our drivers felt bad passing BMW's, Lexus, Boxter, Acura and Mercedes at such high speed on the Speedway oval. The V6 engine has tremendous tork/power.

We finished the race 11/13, but had to pit 3 times for unexpected tire changes. If we wouldn't have had the problem, we would have probably scored a podium. Not bad for a car with almost no testing!

We also ran the third best lap time.

TO ALL OF YOU THAT PLANS TO COME TO RACES, you are more than welcome to drop by! We love to meet with Hyundai enthusiast and car lover.

THANKS AGAIN TO JUSTIN!

I'll post the news release for those who wish to have more details.

KEY GUY
