Default i have a stupid ? about the 6spd

Ive never driven stick in my life....but i want a 2003 GT & i dont want to wait 3 months for them to come out with an auto. how hard would it be to learn to drive stick, & how bad would it be to do it on a new car....as far as i know....the clutch is under warranty for a certain # of miles as long as u dont just throw it into reverse....& thats impossible on the 2003. any input????

Where do I start,...
THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THE CLUTCH maybe like 100 miles or something if it blows, but if you've got like 3000 miles,... good luck.
It's like the brakes considered wear and tear, no warranty. Unless they go on ya right away because of a defect,...

As for learning to drive, get a buddy Who know's what he doing to teach ya I learnt from Dad and it was pretty easy,..

Get a rental car with a stick for a day..

Actually driving a stick is not that difficult. The problems only start when trying to shift too fast. You can shift very fast with a stick, but your hand/left foot coordination has to be good. The only way to get that coordination is practice.

So get you manual and shift granny style for the first 6 months. After that you will have a lot more feeling for the car.

Do you spend a lot of time in traffic jams? Then a clutch is a great workout for your left leg. But the clutches on the tibs don't require that much force to depress so it is not that bad...

I picture myself driving a stick sometimes, I've always driven an auto... I even practice it when Im studying.....
left leg down... shift... let go of left leg at the same time put the pedal to the medal..

the only problems are going in to a slow curve and going uphill...

Good luck finding one.

I used to rent cars all the time and you kust can not get a manual. They only have autos.

You are probably best off taking a course. There are driving schools that teach you how to drive a car with a manual tranny. That way you're now beating up your own car or a friend's. Maybe not the best idea to be learning on a six-speed either. The shift gates are tighter (closer together) than a five-speed so it's easier to grab the wrong gear.
