Default My Tib isn't running good!?

Hi guys...i haven't been on here in a while...but i got a problem. My Tib has run well since new, absolutely no problems in 24,000 miles. I have basic bolt-ons (look at sig for exact mods) and my car has been acting up ever since a couple days ago. My car seems to choke at really low rpm's and especially when accelerating. It makes a terrible backfiring sound and does not progress when you give it a lot of gas. I'll be in second gear and gun it and it get's stuck at like 5000 rpms and slowly goes faster. I put new spark plugs in and put some fuel injector liquid in too. so far, no luck. I have no clue wut the problem could be, my engine light comes on when this happens, which is often. so if u guys have any insight for me, all would be appreciated. thanx.

sounds like an airleak between the MAF and the cylinder head

Does the CEL flash when it happens? It seems so. If so, that's a misfire code which means one or more cylinders is not getting air, fuel or spark. You really need to have the code read so we can tell you how to fix it.

The CEL is flashing when it runs poorly. Other times it accelerates fine and runs fine at highway speeds. Then it will run like crap.

Hey, i just installed a CAI, and OBX 4-2-1 headers in my tib also. Right after i installed the CAI i began to experience the same problem as you. I put the stock intake back on, but now the headers are still making it idle very low, i have no idea what the problem can be, but if you find out let me know.

i had the same problem and my cel read misfire cylinder 2. what had happened was that my plug wires had ripped inside of the boot so they looked fine but they were not. so maybe go to the junkyard and grab a set i paid $5

well....thank god my car is fixed and running like new. it turns out that my coil?? went bad, some electrical piece i've never heard of. i got new spark plugs and wires first, but they didn't solve the problem. soon as i got the coil installed, the car runs great. thanx for ur guys help tho. i just wonder y my electrical system bugged out with only 24000 miles on it. redlining it too often??? who knows. thanx again. my tib is back!

you might have jerked a group of wires when you were putting your header on...i did that and had the same problems as you were.
