Default Volk TE-37's

I have a 2000 Tiburon and I was wondering what size wheel is ok for the car. It isnt lowered yet but I do plan on getting coil-overs. I have read that a 35-40mm offset is best and that they should be no wider than 7", but which would be better 17" or 18"? This is for a set of TE-37s. I also plan to autocross my car, but I am not too worried about having smaller wheels because well TE-37's are light and with all of the engine mods and stripped interior I should be fine.

try 16" wheels.

If you go 17", your going to be using 215/40 (or 45)/17 or 205/40 (or 45)/17

With 18" wheels, your going to be using an even smaller profile tire. 18" wheels are going to be more for show than autocrossing.

What class are you going to be autoXing in? "Stripped interior" and "full engine mods" will put you into Street Mod, good luck against gutted turbo'd hybrid CRX's running 245mm hoosiers on all four corners, etc.

I would personally go with a set of 15's with 225-45-15 Victoracers for autoXing.

If he's going to be racing, a 16" tire / wheel combination will (most of the times) offer a lighter overall weight.

Also, it tends to be the more economical choice as tires will often be cheaper compared with that of the 17" and 18" sizes.
